NFL Stone Cold NFL Locks Week 10

   
    
I feel a hot streak coming on after another disappointing
week without a 3-0 mark.  2-1 is nice, but it's hardly
a guarantee, and that's what "Stone Cold Locks" are
supposed to be.  So Giddyup, here is a 3-0 week for
you, and confidence in improving on the terrible 17-9
record so far this season. 
  
1. Pittsburgh - like sending lambs to the slaughter, the
Steelers are getting better, and the Chiefs are just bad
enough that the could lose to the one loss Alabama
Crimson Tide.   
 
2. Seattle - Pete Carroll said it again this week, and I
agreed with him the first time and again now, "Mark
Sanchez left college too early".  The 12th man in Seattle
will rattle the Sanchise and the rest of his teammates. 
  
3. San Francisco - The Rams are better, but they're not
ready for this type of battle with the Niners.  Could be
as bloody as the Chiefs loss, but that's just too hard
to imagine.

Stone Cold NFL Locks Week 2

Last week I started the season 3-0, right where
it should be, but harder than you might imagine.
Teams are still starting to develop, and so is
your opinion of them, so it's easy to get crossed
up and lose what might seemingly be an easy game.
This week I will try and keep that it going by
staying consistent and using what works, here goes:

1. New England - vs Arizona it's like Alabama vs
Idaho in college football, easy.

2. San Francisco - Ladies and gentleman meet the
NFC representative for the Super Bowl in 2013.

3. Pittsburgh - No Revis, no Keller for the Jets,
no 0-2 start for the Steelers.

NFL Stone Cold Locks Playoff Edition

The regular season record left me at 43-8, not bad
but certainly not good enough for me. As per my
tradition, I will allow the playoffs to count as
well, and try and improve on that 85% winning
percentage. Problem is, there are no easy games
in the playoffs, or at least there aren't supposed
to be, so here goes.

1. Pittsburgh - The Tebow legend starts to take a hit

2. New Orleans - Sorry, Detroit just not that good.

3. Giants - My pick to represent the NFC in the BIG game

NFL Stone Cold Locks Week 17

Just like the guy in this photo, I sometimes feel that
even though I had a 3-0 week, the season total of 40-8
is not worthy of Stone Cold Lock status, but I have one
more week left in the regular season, and I will carry
this throughout the playoffs, and all the way to the
"BIG" game in February. Here are this weeks picks:

1. Philadelphia - Last chance to save face for the Birds

2. Pittsburgh - No let up, and possible #1 seed at stake

3. 49er's - Most dependable pick all season long for me

This is the most difficult week of all to pick.
You never know who's going to mail it in or not.

NFL Stone Cold Locks Week 16

The Stone Cold Locks have cooled off a bit, but last week
I'm sure everyone had the Packers, and we all lost, but
nonetheless I lost, and the record stands at 37-8.
With two regular season weeks left and the playoffs, my
only goal to stay stay undefeated the rest of the way,
let's see how this week goes.

1. Baltimore - They're at home, I should be safe

2. Pittsburgh - Tomlin won't allow a 2nd straight loss

3. New Orleans - Like taking candy from a baby

Steelers James Harrison Is No Ndamukong Suh, But...

I'm not going to sit here and write anything that would
compare what James Harrison does on Sundays and say that
it even comes close to what we saw Ndamukong Suh do on
national TV on Thanksgiving day, but he is far from an
altar boy when it comes to dealing out punishment.

What Suh did was dirty, but that's only because it had
nothing to do with the play on the field, was after the
whistle, and he went on to blatantly lie about it after
we all saw it on slow motion replay, not that slow mo
necessary.

I am a huge fan of dishing out hits on QB's and receivers,
make them think twice. The quarterback must go down, and
he must go down hard*, but don't cry to me about it when
your caught going a little too far and you get fined for
it. This is the same guy that a couple of seasons ago
threatened to retire over these fines. As I often ask,
REALLY?, Give up nine figures because you got fined five,
and the other guy is still picking up his teeth, REALLY?
I understand you want to plead your case, and I am
totally with when you say the the rules on hitting may
seem a little strict, but look at it from the other side.
The rules are there to make sure the other guy doesn't
need a colostomy bag the rest of his life, so stop
F@#king crying over your fines when you have already had
the luxury to out earn about 98% of the people who cheer
you on. What really gets me about these rules is that
they call them in the wrong fashion, but like I've said
time and time again: I want the opponent to get carted
off the field, but when the game is over I hope that the
injury is only a stinger and that he feels and is GREAT.

James what you need to clear your head with is, do you
want to retire over these fines and find out what it might
be like to earn a normal living once again? Do you think
you might be interested in feeling the crippling pain that
is the result of one of your hits?, or should you just be
thankful that you haven't paralyzed anyone, and haven't
been paralyzed yourself? Go out there, be the stud defender
we all know you are, and stop whining when it's clear you
crossed that line, it is now a byproduct of the game, and
hopefully a deterrent to some to not accidentally kill
another player by mistake

it still sees a title disappointingconsidering what it
should be if teams had played up to their level of talent.

1. Atlanta - Time to start living up to the championship hype

3. Pittsburgh - C'mon, the Chiefs are That BAD

NFL Stone Cold Locks 2011 Week 5

Me & Al Davis October 7th 1990, 21yrs and 1 day before his death

Last week in an emotional moment I laid all my
eggs in one basket and used all three of my
picks on the Oakland Raiders, and though this
is not the norm, nor something I ever expect
to do again, it is something I will give myself
a pass on just this once. The record stands at
13-2, and looking continue last weeks momentum,
so here goes:

1. Pittsburgh (Del Rio on his last legs)
2. Philadelphia (Scene of Vick's post jail resurgence)
3. Cincinnati (I'm reaching here)

It's Clear These NFL Teams Need Help, Right?

It's true that sometimes you need stuff to write about,
so what you do right about is a bit of a reach, but
after reading Jason Cole's article on Yahoo Sports about
who should get traded before the NFL trade deadline,
he left me wondering, are there only seven teams in
this league?

The article proposed about 14 trades, and he had all the
players going to either Pittsburgh, New England, Baltimore,
San Francisco, Houston, Washington or San Diego. Does no
one else in the league need help or should only the teams
in or near 1st get any help. I'm not really a writer so
I'm in no real position to critique writing, but you have
to admit, the premise is a little shallow, no?

NFL Stone Cold Locks 2011 Week 3

Last weeks "Locks" turned out to be just that,
"LOCKS", and yet I still feel the need for
perfection once again even after going a perfect
3-0 and raising my record to a mediocre 5-1.
It's time to start making this more of a habit
than it has been and this week I feel real good.
Ladies and Gentleman, here are your winners:

1. Pittsburgh (Indy is addicted to Manning)
2. San Diego (Todd Haley may not make it out of 2011)

NFL Stone Cold Locks Week 2

Last weeks "Locks" turned out to be anything
but, and yet I still managed to post a 2-1
record. Let's chalk that up to getting a feel
for things opening week, and now it's time to
start making the locks look more like "LOCKS".
Here goes:

1. Pittsburgh (It's Seattle, so no problem)
2. New Orleans (Saints not gonna start 0-2)
3. Detroit (KC is less than a paper tiger)

AFC North: Same Old, Same Old?

It's time to look at an AFC division and the
North is up first. Both top heavy and bottom
heavy this may be more true here than in any
other division in the NFL. So that being
said, this is how is see it shaping up.

1. Pit. Steelers (Little Change, Lots Of Stability)
2. Baltimore Ravens (Not Sold On Flacco As Big Time QB)
3. Cleveland Browns (A Step Towards Getting Back On Top)
4. Cincinnati Bengals (Too Much Wrong)

Ranting With Rizzo "Super Edition" Replay

Stone Cold "Super" Lock

82% is a nice number for correct number of
winning picks, 41-9 to be exact. I just
don't consider it good enough for them to
be called locks, but c'est la vie.
I do wish however to end my season with a
bang, and that is why I'm going with the
Green Bay Packers to end the 2010 NFL season
as Champions, and though I am not trying to
create a built in excuse should they lose,
I will say that a Steeler victory would not
come as a shock. The pick however is PACKERS !
