NY Yankees Are Out, So What!

Let the questions begin for all the entitled
Yankees fans across the country: Will Jorge
Posada be a Yankee next year? NO!, he's done,
not only will he not be a Yankee, he won't be
playing anywhere. Is this what A-Rod is going
to be like going forward? YES! you wanted him,
you got him, and now the effects of enhancing
his body and performance take their toll.
Will Derek Jeter ride out into the sunset on
a winning note? Who knows, with that payroll
anything is possible. SPEND SPEND SPEND, feed
the hungru lion. How else can you justify the
over bloated ticket prices? Will Brain Cashman
still be here to fix all of this? Who gives a
rat's ass, really. Any GM in the Major now can
do as good if not better job with that type of
bankroll. Cashman deserves some credit, and yes
it's true that there are a few out the that would
royally screw it up, but I can assure you that
I wouldn't, and not many worth their salt would.

Suck it up Yankee fans, the days of Wine & Roses
are over. No Scott Brosius, No Tino Martinez,
No Paul O'Neill, and the BOSS is dead. Are the
Tigers a better team? YES!, no they don't have
better players, or more superstars, or as big a
payroll, but they are a better TEAM, and by the
way Red Sox fans, now that you've won a couple
stop feeling so f*#king entitled yourselves.

Sports Illustrated did a nice job with this
list on line at SI.com. It's a list of the
most over rated players in the major leagues,
and it was voted on by 184 other major league
players. What I found most entertaining is
that not only is it dominated by NY Yankees,
but that the AL East dominates it as a whole.
Pretty funny, and yet extremely close to the
truth.

Here's your top five:
1. Alex Rodriguez (Surprise !)
2. Joba Chamberlain
3. Derek Jeter
4. Jayson Werth (Comes with the $$$ Big Guy)
5. Jonathan Papelbon (Dance that Jig, Son)

Money, Money, Money

In last weeks ESPN the magazine their was
a page on top earners in sports all across
the gamut, for those "sports" or games that
were available. We can agree that not
everyone on this list is an athlete, but
they do make money playing games, and that
can't be all bad.

A couple of things that might catch your eye
are things like:

In two categories the women earn more than the
men, and as you can see, if you didn't already
know, that's rare.

NFL, MLB, and NBA do not have the top three
earners.

The lowest earner on this list is Female Bowler
Shannon Pluhowsky at $40,300 for 2009/10 but
this doesn't mention any endorsement money so
it can't be all that bad to bowl for a living.

The highest earners are Manny Pacquiao and
Alex Rodriguez at 32 million, but even
though it's prize money and not salary,
Pacquiao only needed two fights to do that.

A recent beer commercial has made light of
a "pro" dart player on a a date with his
stretching and warm up antics, but the top
earner on this list, Phil Taylor is laughing
all the way to the bank with over a million
in earnings, and again I'm sure the sponsors
help make that a little more profitable too.

And yes Professional eater Joey Chestnut may
die at an early age while suffering all sorts
of gastrointestinal problems along the way as
a member of MLE (Major League Eating), but he
will earn over 200 grand along the way as long
as he stays at or near the top of his "game"
