Red Sox Fire Bobby Valentine, Sky Still Blue

This might be the dumbest thing I write about all year, it's
just too easy.  Did anyone, ANYONE think that hiring
Bobby Valentine as manager of the Boston Red Sox was
a good idea?  It was one of the most inevitable things we
had to expect.  Not that Valentine is a bad manager, and
you don;'t have to agree or disagree with that statement
for that matter, but it was just a B A D fit, period.

Valentine could be manager of almost any team, and would
have been a better idea than hiring him in Boston, but
whether it was ownership or the GM, the ball was dropped.
I have no idea what they were looking for Red Sox fans,
not a clue.  Exposure? Discipline? Headlines?  Don't know,
but what I do know is that no one is more to blame for the
Red Sox huge shortcomings this year that whoever it was
that pulled the trigger and had the final say on this hiring.

I will make an admission though, when Boston traded away
Gonzalez, Beckett, Crawford, and Scutaro, I thought that
they might be in a way backing Valentine.  Shame on me.
I was wrong, and way off, I should have stuck with my initial
instinct, this was a bad fit, and he wouldn't last past this
season.  The news gets worse Sox fans, this won't be an
easy hole to dig out of, not at all.

Red Sox : Who Says You Can't Trade The Whole Team?

It's been said a million times, "you can't trade
all 25 players, you have to change the manager",
or something very similar to that. Well the
Red Sox dared to different here.
Kevin Youkalis, not a BIG Bobby V. - GONE
Kelly Shopach, alleged texter - GONE
Josh Beckett, Big fatcat hasbeen - GONE
Adrian Gonzalez, Free Agent Blah - GONE
Carl Crawford, Damaged Free Agent Blah - GONE
Nick Punto - Guilty by association - GONE
Bobby V. (Manager) - STILL HEEEEEEEEERE

If Dustin Pedroia wants out, and doesn't get
how things are done around there NOW, I think
he just found out were the door is. Like the
move or hate it, it's a bold statement, and one
that should probably considered more often,
especially when players forget who signs their
pay checks. Yes they're the ones that can bring
home the glory for the teams, but players play,
and managers manage. I know it's a novel idea
and all, but they might want to try it on for
size and see how it goes.

As far as the Dodgers go, Lord help Don Mattingly
and his coaches, he may need it.

Is Bobby Valentine's Hiring In Boston Already A Failure?

I am very well aware that it may sound like I'm
jumping the the gun on this issue, and it does
sound like a stupid question to many of you, BUT
you cant help but notice that Bobby Valentine's
tenure in Beantown is not off to a very stellar
start.

As of this writing the Sox are 4-6, and that's
good, they were 1-5. So What? Well it's eerily
similar to their start last year, and that was
one of many reasons their two time World Series
Champion manager was replaced, yeah that and that
whole beer in the clubhouse thing. One hundred
and fifty two more games to go you say? Yes,
that's true too, but Valentine either wants to
shake things up and see what happens, or he is
as disconnected with that clubhouse as can be.
He has already apologized to his starting third
baseman Kevin Youkilis for public comments made
about his dedication, and that's only the stuff
we know about. The thing is, right now I'm just
not getting a warm fuzzy feeling that he and his
style are being easily accepted, and/or understood
by that group of players. Again, Is it a little
early? Absolutely, but if I had to make a bet now,
and I don't, I would say that this will be Bobby
Valentines one and only season at the helm of the
Boston Red Sox. Call it a hunch, or maybe even
indigestion, but it's been eating away at me.
I just think that Bobby Valentine is a real smart
baseball man, but sometimes people don't get him.

Pitchers & Catchers Are Ready To Roll

I'm sure the the upcoming baseball season will have
have many more story lines than I can possibly put
together here in this little article, but here are
a few questions that are bound to come up.

Manny Ramirez is trying to make a comeback, do you
or anyone else care?, and doesn't he have to suit
out 100 games to serve his suspension first?

How does adding Bobby Valentine to the mix affect
the Red Sox Yankees rivalry? Is it still going to
be just those two teams in the AL East in 2012 or
does Tampa pull it out of a hat again?

Do you like the fact that the new wild card rules add
an extra wild card team and essentially make it harder
for any wild card team to win the World Series?

Is the pressure of winning both the MVP & the Cy Young
going to be so much that Justin Verlander is bound to
have a bad season this year, or can he sustain what he
accomplished in 2012 and benefit with the addition of
Prince Fielder?

Will the Wilpons still be owners of the New York Mets
for the rest of 2012 or in 2013?

If Johnny Damon plays this season does he help or hurt
his chances of being considered for the Hall of Fame?
Here are some of his numbers: 2,723 Hits, almost 1,000
walks, over 400 stolen bases, 200+ HR's and at least
two rings.

What will the St. Louis Cardinals look like without Tony
LaRussa running the show?, and will they get the chance
to repeat?

Are the Anaheim Angels of Los Angeles/Sacramento/Beverly
Hills/San Bernadino/Compton the team to beat in the AL
with the additions of Albert Pujols, and C.J. Wilson?

Can Josh Hamilton stay clean?

Will the whispers begin about whether Albert Pujols
is lying about his age? or whether he has used PED's?

Can Don Mattingly and the Dodgers surprise the NL and
make their way to the World Series under new ownership?

Are the Phillies a real threat without Ryan Howard for
a large chunk of the start of the season?

What now for Ryan Braun?

Will the Miami Marlins draw more than 15,000 a game
once the new stadium luster wears off?, can they compete
for the NL East with the Phillies and Braves?

Bonus question? Will Jeremy Lin be asked to toss out
ceremonial first pitch at any baseball game this year?
