Since David Wright went on the DL the NY
Mets are 3 games over .500 at 21-18,
they were 4 games under with him, and
though you can make the case that the
Mets are doing this without Ike Davis
as well as any sort of real fire power
from the bat of Jason Bay, it is clear
the Jose Reyes is making a real case
to receive a "Carl Crawford" type offer
from someone this off season. In this
writers opinion it's also becoming more
and more clear that perhaps that can
survive without David Wright, and should
consider using him as trade bait as soon
as he starts to show he's healthy.
Jose Reyes has more stolen bases and hits
in his first 1000 games than anyone except
Ty Cobb, yes even more than Ricky Henderson,
and you can get more for Wright who has a
1 1/2 left on his contract as opposed to
just a few months for Reyes. Just Sayin'.

Ranting with Rizzo Replay 6--28-11
A little bit of this and a little bit
of that was the topic this past week.
We look at the NBA draft for a minute
or and dissect Inter league baseball
a bit and see what all the hoopla is
about not wanting it around. Enjoy !

Double Take
Is it just me or did anyone else have to check to
see if the Mets were in Texas on Saturday or if
they were in Illinois? It seemed as though
Daniel Murphy was doing an awesome Abe Lincoln
tribute with his facial hair as seen quite clearly
during the FOX Broadcast for their game of the
week.

Jim Riggleman Head Scratcher
It's hard to feel to bad for a guy who's career
record as a manager is 662-824 and winning at a
44% clip, but I gotta give it to him for at least
saying it like it is. He was quoted as saying:
"I'm 58, I'm too old to be disrespected",
I'll buy that, good job Jim !

Hey Tiki, No D'uh
Getty Images
So according to NFL.com's Albert Breer, free agent
Tiki Barber's two choices for a comeback are either
Pittsburgh and New England. To be honest with you,
I thought he would have preferred to either join the
Carolina, Buffalo or even give the lions a shot in
the arm. Huh, guess I was wrong. What do I know ?

LeBron Bashing Aside
Image: AP
As I tweeted last night, LeBron James took
his talents to South Beach and Mark Cuban
took the NBA Trophy to Dallas.
The Cavs owner Tweeted that this is a lesson
for everyone, there are no shortcuts, NONE.
He's right, but should have just kept quiet.
I also tweeted that LeBron couldn't carry the
jock of Michael Jordans sons. Right now this
is true, and though this was in reference to
the comment Scottie Pippen made earlier last
week, when he said that LeBron is a better all
around player then Jordan was, my comment was
not based on pure talent. Jordan would have
ripped your heart out last night, LeBron can't
get out of his own way. Maybe if he grows up
first, then he can play Championship ball.
It doesn't matter how many players in the league
like Queen James, the difference is they are
willing to beat him to a pulp to take the trophy
home for their team and their fans.
By the way, this isn't bashing, just the cold truth.

Deja Blue?
In game 3 of the 2006 NBA Finals between the same
two teams that battle this year, the turning point
for the Heat seemed to be when with 6:34 left in
the 4th quarter the overcame a 13 point deficit to
beat the Mavs and get back into the series instead
of going into an 0-3 hole. This year the Mavericks
overcame a 15 point deficit with a similar amount of
time left in game two, to avoid an 0-2 deficit on
the way back home to Dallas. Question is, is this
the point that gets the Mavs their title now that
they have a 3-2 lead and two games to win one?

Oooovvver Raaaaaated
Photo: Chuck Solomon/SI
Sports Illustrated did a nice job with this
list on line at SI.com. It's a list of the
most over rated players in the major leagues,
and it was voted on by 184 other major league
players. What I found most entertaining is
that not only is it dominated by NY Yankees,
but that the AL East dominates it as a whole.
Pretty funny, and yet extremely close to the
truth.
Here's your top five:
1. Alex Rodriguez (Surprise !)
2. Joba Chamberlain
3. Derek Jeter
4. Jayson Werth (Comes with the $$$ Big Guy)
5. Jonathan Papelbon (Dance that Jig, Son)
Check out the rest at SI.com
